This week in English we went over “A Rose for Emily.” It was an unusual story, but I enjoyed it. The twist at the end caught me off guard. This story was a perfect one to read along side of learning how to do a proper literary analysis. You can see the complexity of the story and then it becomes clear that “A Rose for Emily” is not simply about a mentally ill old woman who passed away. It is about the way the New South sees the Old South. Other angles can express different views as well.
I am considering using this story for my English paper. It will be either that or “A Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allen Poe.
